Tanya Machula has always had a knack for decorating and creating. One of her favourite pastimes over the years has been scouring flea markets and antiques shops and auctions for amazing, one-of-a-kind finds.
Eventually, it was no longer enough for her to keep decorating her own home. “You just get to the point where you want to share it with everyone!” she says. Making a business out of her avid hobby was just a natural next-step. Now she gets to help other people locate their perfect, unique decor items and it gives her a thrill that never gets old.
In fact, being an entrepreneur and owning an independent business is something of an adventure every single day for Tanya. “I love the diversity of the job,” she says. “I love the challenges and how everyday is different. There no better satisfaction than happy customers.” She is proud of the staff that work for her too (pictured here). “I have some very thoughtful, loyal ladies who work for me and go out of their way to help make my store special.” Plus, being a small town business means that many customers end up becoming good friends as well. All in all, it makes for a very rewarding career.
Tanya still loves to create and decorate, but when she isn’t doing that, she likes to spend time in her garden. She also likes to relax with a good book and tries to take the occasional road trip when she can get away. She enjoys visiting the local farmer’s market and appreciates that there is so much wonderful locally-grown produce as well as many amazing local artisans and crafters.
